In a recent report, Tutto Juve revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have begun to move in for Juventus ace Federico Chiesa. It has been claimed that Spurs are eager to seal a move for the Italian winger next year.
Chiesa’s Impressive Run Of Form In Serie A
Chiesa has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Italian club after he put in a string of productive displays on the left side of their attack. The Italy international has registered six goals and secured a couple of assists in 15 matches for Juve this season across all competitions.
The 26-year-old has been a reliable performer in the final third as he is averaging 2.4 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 74.8% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Chiesa is under contract at the Allianz Stadium until the summer of 2025. Hence, Spurs could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Get Chiesa On Board?
Chiesa is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few clever runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range. Chiesa is primarily a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player or in the number ten position if needed.
The Italian sensation can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals up top but needs to find a way to improve his decision-making in front of the opponent’s goal. He would add more firepower to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s attack.
Chiesa will undeniably enhance the quality of the London club’s squad. At 26, he is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to pursue this winter or at the end of this campaign. However, only time will tell whether Chiesa can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting Chiesa, so Postecoglu should step up his efforts to get him on board in 2024.
