Onana’s Good Run Of Form At Goodison Park
Onana is having a decent season at Goodison Park after performing at a high level at the centre of Sean Dyche’s midfield. The 22-year-old has scored twice and earned one assist in 17 matches for the Toffees during this campaign across multiple competitions.
The Belgian sensation has been a good performer in both halves based on his average of 2.5 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.2 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after making 85.4% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Sean Dyche has no immediate need to cash in on him unless he receives a big offer in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Can Everton Head Coach Sean Dyche Afford To Let Onana Go?
Onana is a good tackler of the ball and can offer adequate protection for his teammates at the back. He has got the energy to make a few driving runs with the ball from midfield.
The Belgian sensation can even shoot the ball with venom from long range and is a tidy distributor of the ball as well. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder or play as a central defender if told to do so by his manager.
At the moment, Onana is one of the first names in Dyche’s teamsheet at the Merseyside club. Hence, the Everton boss simply cannot afford to let him go on the cheap this January.
At the very least, the Toffees should only entertain offers for the player if they can find a suitable replacement for him in the January transfer window. At 22, Onana has got a bright future ahead of them, so Everton’s main priority should be retain his services for the long run.
