In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb offered an update on the future of Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior. It has been stated that the Gunners are unwilling to let the Polish centre-back leave despite interest from Italy ahead of the January transfer window.
Kiwior’s Impressive Campaign In North London
Kiwior is enjoying a solid campaign at the North London club but has struggled to nail down a regular spot in Mikel Arteta’s first team. The Poland international has featured in 13 matches for Arsenal this season but has failed to score or create a goal for them across all fronts.
The 23-year-old has most of his appearance off the bench but has done well to average 0.7 tackles and 1.6 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been careful with his ball distribution after completing 86.5% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Kiwior is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2028. Therefore, there is no immediate need for Arteta to cash in on him in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Should Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta Keep Hold Of Kiwior?
Kiwior is a decent tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his side when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back. The Polish sensation can use his robust 1.89m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels as well. He mainly functions as a central defender but can also operate as a left-back or serve as a defensive midfielder if asked to do so.
Kiwior is currently playing an important role in Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s match-day squad. Thus, the Gunners should focus on keeping hold of him for the long run. At 23, Kiwior still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer and could become a future star at the North London club.
All in all, Arteta should think about retaining his services for now as he could help the Gunners compete across all fronts this season. Furthermore, Arsenal would have to rely on Kiwior to cope with fixture congestion better over the next few months as the title race continues to heat up in the Premier League.
