According to a report from Liverpool Echo, Liverpool scouts attended the Bristol City vs Sunderland match to observe Jobe Bellingham, brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, who’s been excelling at Sunderland since departing Birmingham City this summer. Arsenal and Chelsea allegedly had scouts monitoring the 18-year-old midfielder at Ashton Gate as well which means there might be a three-way battle between the Premier League giants for his signature.
Bellingham’s Impressive Start At Sunderland So Far This Season
Jobe Bellingham, the young midfielder making waves at Sunderland, has caught the attention of football enthusiasts and scouts alike with his remarkable performances since the beginning of this season. He has found the back of the net on four occasions and has even created an assist over twenty on appearances in the Championship.
The attacking midfielder has done well to average 1.1 tackles, 1.4 clearances, 1.5 shots and 0.8 key passes per game in the second tier of English football. He has also been accurate when distributing possession in the middle of the park after completing 86.2% of his attempted passes in second-division football (stats via whoscored).
Should Klopp Bring Him To Liverpool In January?
At just 18 years old, Bellingham has been a standout figure for Sunderland, drawing comparisons to his older brother Jude, who made a significant mark in the footballing world with his early breakthrough at Birmingham City before moving to Borussia Dortmund. However, Jobe’s journey has taken him to Sunderland, where he’s carved his own path to prominence.
The young midfielder’s presence on the field has been nothing short of impressive. His technical prowess, vision, and composure have been evident in each game, contributing significantly to Sunderland’s performances. Bellingham’s ability to dictate play from midfield, his agility, and his knack for orchestrating attacking moves have not gone unnoticed.
Hence, Jurgen Klopp would be prudent to secure his services in the upcoming transfer window as he could provide more depth in the middle of the park at Anfield and could prove to be a shrewd acquisition in the long-term for the Merseyside club.
