In a recent report, Foot Mercato mentioned that Real Madrid are facing stiff competition for LOSC Lille starlet Leny Yoro. It has been stated that Los Blancos will have to rival Paris Saint-Germain in the race to recruit the French defender.
Yoro’s Impressive Run Of Form In Ligue 1
Yoro is having a solid season at the French club as he has been responsible for putting in a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive third of the pitch. The French prospect has done well to score three times in 19 appearances for Lille during this campaign on all fronts.
The 18-year-old has proven his worth as a solid defender at the back by averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from inside his half after completing 90.7% of his attempted passes in the French top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Real Madrid Are Facing Stiff Competition For Yoro: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Yoro is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and can use his towering 1.90m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels as well.
The French whizkid is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to settle into life in Spain.
Yoro is already good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at Real Madrid next year. He would add more bite and steel to Los Blancos’ backline. The French defensive ace will also help the Madrid giants challenge across all fronts over the next decade.
At 28, there is no denying that Yoro is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, Real Madrid should try everything in their power to win the race for his services this January or at the end of this season.
