In a recent report, Tutto Juve stated that Newcastle United are facing tough competition for Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso. It has been mentioned that the Magpies will have to rival Aston Villa, Fulham and Nottingham Forest in pursuit of the Italian defensive ace next year.
Cambiaso’s Impressive Form At The Allianz Stadium
Cambiaso is enjoying a solid campaign at the Turin club after he put in a handful of impressive displays on the left side of their defence. The Italian defensive ace has found the back of the net once and earned a couple of assists in 14 matches for Juve this season across multiple competitions.
The 23-year-old has proven his worth at times by averaging 1.1 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 0.8 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the left flank based on his pass completion rate of 88.1% in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, the Magpies will have to make a sizable offer if they want to bring Cambiaso to St. James’ Park in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Newcastle United Are Facing Tough Competition For Cambiaso: Is He Worth The Fight?
Cambiaso is a good tackler of the ball and usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can create some inviting chances for his teammates as well. The Italian talent is a good dribbler with the ball but needs to find a way to be more consistent in top-flight football.
We can expect Cambiaso to add more quality to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe‘s defence. He will no doubt increase competition for places within the Tyneside club‘s match-day squad. However, it remains to be seen whether the Italian can make a smooth transition to life in England.
At 23, Cambiaso still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer. Hence, he will be well-worth the fight, so the Magpies should consider stepping up their chase to secure his services when the transfer window reopens this January.
