If a report from The Scottish Sun is believed to be true, Celtic are weighing up a summer move for Bojan Miovski. The Aberdeen star hit the ground running soon after securing a low-key move from MTK Budapest. His impact has now grabbed the attention of the Glasgow giants who scouted him extensively in every domestic game so far this campaign.
The 24-year-old North Macedonia international represented Bregalnica and Rabotnichki both in the academy and senior ranks back in his homeland. He then had brief stints with Makedonija GP and Renova before leaving his country for Hungarian top-flight outfit MTK. There he fired in 19 goals and laid on 10 more in 60 appearances across two seasons. The Dons opted to spend a meagre £556,000 to secure his services in the summer of 2022 and this decision could earn them millions in the upcoming winter window.
Although the Scottish side has struggled of late, Miovski proved to be an instant success with 29 goals and 6 assists in 65 outings. His solitary goal against Hibernian earned them a victory in the League Cup semifinal and the club will once again rely on his expertise while locking horns with Rangers for the high-profile final.
Why Celtic Are Cashing The Striking Ace
Celtic, on the other hand, are blessed with depth as well as quality high up the pitch. Kyogo Furuhashi is irreplaceable for his incredible scoring traits, also, Oh Hyeon-gyu has shown his ability as an outright ‘number 9’ despite limited gametime. Daizen Maeda could slot in as a centre-forward despite being deployed from the flanks since plying his trade to Parkhead.
Having said that, the Bhoys will have no striking option in their ranks with the trio likely to depart and miss around a month’s action for the upcoming Asian Cup over January and February. Rangers are catching up in the Premiership since appointing Philippe Clement as the new Ibrox chief and Celtic, therefore, must not rely on makeshift centre-forwards for several gameweeks.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen are fighting at the wrong end of the Premiership standings. The egress of Miovski would be a massive setback in their revival race and the club’s chief executive Alan Burrows made it clear that they are under no pressure to sell. The Macedonian is valued at more than £4.4m – a figure the Hoops paid Hibs to tie down Scott Brown in 2007.
Nevertheless, Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of Miovski’s precision and prowess, and a January move is on the cards unless the Celts find him too expensive in the coming days.
