Chelsea will lock horns with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park this Saturday as they hope to secure a good result on their travels in the Premier League. The Blues managed to earn a 4-4 draw against Manchester City before the international break which will give them some confidence ahead of this game.
Mauricio Pochettino will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, we can once again expect to see Nicolas Jackson lead the line for the West London club in the final third.
4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Robert Sanchez will feature in goal for the London club despite shipping in four goals in his last league outing. Thiago Silva will once again operate alongside Axel Disasi at the centre of Chelsea’s backline as they look to keep things tidy on the defensive third of the pitch.
Reece James will be a nailed-on starter at right-back while Marc Cucurella hopes to give a good account of himself on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to get forward and express themselves in the Newcastle half.
Benoit Badiashile will provide cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.
Midfield
Enzo Fernandez will anchor the midfield alongside Moises Caicedo as they look to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer will play just ahead of them as part of Pochettino’s attack. Both Sterling and Palmer managed to score against Man City which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this clash at St. James’ Park.
Ian Maatsen and Noni Madueke will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Nicolas Jackson will spearhead Chelsea’s attack on his own up top.
Christopher Nkunku is unlikely to be risked in this game but Armando Broja will be named on the bench and might come on in the latter stages if Chelsea are in need of a goal by then.
