In a recent report, Tuttosport claimed that Everton are eyeing a move for Juventus forward Samuel Iling-Junior this January. It has been stated that the Toffees are hoping to reignite their interest in recruiting the English wide player in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Iling-Junior’s Lack Of Game Time At The Allianz Stadium This Season
Iling-Junior has played a sporadic role in Juventus’ squad this season but has managed to catch the eye at times on the left side of their attack. The English wing wizard has found the back of the net once in three matches for the Turin outfit during this campaign across all competitions.
The 20-year-old has made all of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.3 shots and 0.3 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 80.6% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Toffees will have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit the English sensation this January.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Snap Iling-Junior Up This January?
Iling-Junior is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself and can be a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the pitch. He can even set up the odd chance for his teammates in the final third.
Iling-Junior is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play on the right-wing if needed. However, the talented youngster is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
However, there is no doubt that Iling-Junior would add some much-needed firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attack. He would also help the Toffees compete across all fronts in the coming seasons.
Thus, it makes sense for the Merseyside club to go all out to snap Iling-Junior up when the transfer window commences at the start of the next year. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of English football.
