Maatsen To Start, Madueke On The Bench | 4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup Vs Blackburn Rovers

Chelsea will welcome Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge this Wednesday night as they try to earn a victory at home in the EFL Cup. The Blues suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Brentford recently which has drained their confidence ahead of this cup game in midweek.

Mauricio Pochettino will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make one tweak to his starting XI for this game. Ian Maatsen will get a chance to play from the start of this clash while Noni Madueke makes way for him and drops to the bench.

Defence

Robert Sanchez will feature in between the sticks for the Blues as he looks to earn a clean sheet at home. Thiago Silva will once again partner up with Levi Colwill at the centre of Chelsea’s defence as they focus on keeping things solid at the back during the game.

Axel Disasi will get another chance to shine as the right-back while Marc Cucurella hopes to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back.

Benoit Badiashile will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Conor Gallagher will anchor the midfield alongside Moises Caicedo as they try to establish their superiority over the opposition in the middle of the park.

The talented trio of Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer and Ian Maatsen will operate just ahead of them as part of Chelsea’s attack. Both Sterling and Maatsen will be given the license to stretch the pitch out on the flanks and get in behind the Blackburn backline at every chance they get.

Noni Madueke will be named on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Nicolas Jackson will lead the charge for the West London club on the offensive end of the pitch. The Senegal international has to find a way to cause problems for the opposition defenders if he wants to start more games for Chelsea in the coming weeks.
