In a recent report, Estadio Deportivo revealed that Real Madrid are eager to land Chelsea star Reece James next year. It is believed that Los Blancos has identified the English talent as an ideal replacement for Dani Carvajal.
James’ Injury-Ravaged Campaign At Chelsea
James has missed a major chunk of his campaign as he was recovering from a serious hamstring injury. Still, the English full-back has done well to establish himself as a reliable performer at Stamford Bridge over the past few years.
The 23-year-old has registered 11 goals and picked up 20 assists in 149 senior appearances for the Blues thus far on all fronts.
James is under contract at the West London club until the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap next year.
What Will James Bring To Real Madrid?
James is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
The gifted talent has even got the vision to engineer some promising chances for his teammates from the right flank and can shoot the ball with venom from long range. He is primarily a right-back but can also function as a right wing-back or as a right-winger if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect James to bring more quality to Real Madrid’s first XI. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at the Madrid club in the coming seasons. James would also serve as an ideal successor to Dani Carvajal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run.
At 23, the England international will only get better with each year which makes him a worthy target for Los Blancos to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. With all things considered, Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to go all out to acquire James’ services this January. However, it would take a big offer for Real Madrid to stand a chance of convincing Chelsea to part ways with their prized asset.
