Liverpool faced off against Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a win on the road. The Reds made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 20th minute when Simon Adingra found the back of the net. However, Mohamed Salah equalised for Liverpool with a good finish before scoring again from the penalty spot in the first-half injury time. Jurgen Klopp‘s men went into the half-time break 2-1 up on the scoreline.
The Merseyside club conceded the equaliser in the 78th minute as Lewis Dunk scored from close range. The match ended with Liverpool being held to a 2-2 draw away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the clash against the Seagulls.
GK: Alisson Becker – 6/10
The Brazilian keeper made one world-class save at the back but won’t be pleased after failing to keep a clean sheet in both halves.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6.5/10
He performed his defensive duties well but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
CB: Joel Matip – 6.5/10
Matip kept things solid when defending inside his half but was replaced in the 72nd minute.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 6.5/10
The Dutch talent played a sloppy pass in the lead-up to Brighton’s opener. However, he didn’t do much wrong otherwise on the defensive end of the field.
LB: Andrew Robertson – 6.5/10
He did his fair share of defending and made two key chances in the opponent’s half.
CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – 7/10
The Hungarian talent was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch.
CM: Alexis Mac Allister – 7/10
He anchored the midfield well and made one good run with the ball.
CM: Harvey Elliott – 6/10
Elliott struggled to get into the flow of the game and was substituted at half-time.
RW: Mohamed Salah – 8/10
Salah was a constant menace on the right wing and deserves credit for scoring two late goals in the first half.
ST: Darwin Nunez – 7/10
He caught the eye at times and worked hard in the final third. Nunez has got an assist to show for his efforts.
LW: Luis Diaz – 7/10
Diaz used his pace well at times but there was no goal for him today.
Substitutes:
CM: Ryan Gravenberch – 6.5/10
He wasted a sitter in the second half.
CB: Ibrahima Konate – 6/10
Konate gave away a soft foul in the lead-up to Brighton’s equaliser.
RB: Joe Gomez – 6/10
His impact on the game was minimal.
