Alisson Gets 8, Van Dijk With 7.5 | Liverpool Players Rated In Disappointing Loss Vs Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool faced off against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to secure a good result on the road. The Reds made a slow start to the game and had Curtis Jones get sent off in the 26th minute. They conceded the opening goal just ten minutes later when Heung-min Son found the back of the net. However, Cody Gakpo equalised in the dying embers of the first half as both sides went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.

Diogo Jota got sent off by the referee as well in the 69th minute. The nine-men of Liverpool ended up conceding deep in injury time when Joel Matip scored an unfortunate own goal. The contest finished with Jurgen Klopp‘s men suffering a disappointing 2-1 loss away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player fared during the match against Spurs.

GK: Alisson Becker – 8/10

The Brazilian keeper kept his team in the game due to his excellent shot-stopping and decision-making. However, his efforts were not enough in the end.

RB: Joe Gomez – 6.5/10

He was solid for most of the game but lost track of Richarlison in the lead-up to Son’s opener.

CB: Joel Matip – 6.5/10

Matip made a lot of crucial clearances at the back but ended up scoring an own goal in the dying embers of the contest.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 7.5/10

Van Dijk was a rock at the back and picked up an assist for setting up Cody Gakpo’s equaliser.
