In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Real Madrid are eyeing a January move for Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella. It has been stated that Los Blancos are showing interest in recruiting the Spanish full-back this summer.
Cucurella’s Growing Struggles At Stamford Bridge
Cucurella has endured a difficult campaign at Stamford Bridge so far as he has struggled to earn a starting spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s first XI. He has only made one appearance for the Blues in the EFL Cup this season.
The Spanish left-back was a regular starter at the West London club in the previous campaign when he featured in 33 matches for them, picking up a couple of assists on all fronts.
His current contract at Stamford Bridge will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, it makes sense for Real Madrid to try and arrange a loan move for him in the January transfer window.
Is Cucurella A Good Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Cucurella is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team when he is playing well on the defensive end of the pitch. He usually clears the danger when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
The Spanish sensation is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a central defender if told to do so by his manager. He is a good crosser of the ball as well but needs to figure out a way to be more consistent with his performances at the highest level.
At the moment, Cucurella is lacking confidence due to his lack of game time at Stamford Bridge. Therefore, a loan move to Real Madrid could be an ideal opportunity for him to get his career back on track.
Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti can definitely use someone with Cucurella’s skillset and versatility to bolster his squad’s depth next year. The Spanish defensive ace is good enough to help the Madrid giants compete for some major trophies this season. All in all, he would be a decent option for Real Madrid to pursue on loan when the transfer window commences at the start of next year.
