In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs hoping to sign KAA Gent forward Gift Orban. It has been stated that Spurs could face competition in the form of Barcelona and AC Milan in the race to land the Nigerian striker next year.
Orban’s Decent Run Of Form In Belgian Football This Season
Orban has made a terrific start to this campaign after putting in a series of decent displays as the focal point of Gent’s attack. The 21-year-old has banged in six goals in ten matches for the Belgian outfit this season across all fronts.
The Nigerian talent has led the line well and deserves credit for averaging 3.2 shots and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Jupiler Pro League. However, he has to find a way to improve his link-up play on the attacking end of the pitch based on his pass success rate of 71.6% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Belgian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Spurs would struggle to sign him on the cheap next year.
Is Orban The Right Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Orban is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has proven his worth as a good finisher in the final third. The talented centre-forward can even make a few dangerous runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty box. However, he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution up top.
We can expect Orban to bring more goals to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the North London club.
At 21, Orban still has a lot of room for improvement and could become a future star in European football. Therefore, he would be a good fit for Tottenham‘s needs right now as they can benefit from adding a fresh face to their attack next year. However, it remains to be seen whether Orban can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
