There are more ways to help your team to get a goal without scoring or assisting, and Dele Alli showed exactly that. It took the Spurs 70 minutes to break the deadlock against Steve Bruce’s resilient Aston Villa, as they progress to the 4th round of the FA Cup.
The Best And The Worst Tottenham Hotspur Players Rated In Their Win Vs Aston Villa
Vorm (7/10)- He stepped up quite well for the phenomenal Hugo Lloris. Although Aston Villa hardly posed any real threat throughout the game, he looked really comfortable.
The Dutch no. 2 looked good in his distribution and ball collection.
Trippier (7.5/10)- Stepped in for Kyle Walker and did his job pretty well. He was quite vibrant in that right back role and had an exciting game.
Villa’s lack of attacking sharpness enabled him to be uber-adventurous at times and he caused a lot of problems for Villa’s defence.
Carter-Vickers (6.5/10)- Had very little to do on a comfortable evening and was perhaps the perfect platform to get some stability in his game. His frame is pretty much assuring and strong and he used ideally.
Alderweireld (7/10)- He is easily the best Tottenham have at the back. A defensive rock throughout the game, Alderweireld displayed no nonsense defending.
Had to make a crucial block from Agbonlahor’s shot that could have changed the result.
Wimmer (6/10)- Was largely anonymous throughout the game and gelled in well with the others. Like others, he too was hardly troubled by Villa forwards. However, he was very mobile and kept the flair of his side up and running.
