In a recent report, The Sun claimed that Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is on the radar of Borussia Dortmund. It has been stated that the German club are hoping to sign the English talent from the Red Devils this winter.
Sancho’s Inconsistent Spell At Old Trafford Last Season
Sancho managed to put in a few impressive displays for Man United last season but was often guilty of being inconsistent in front of the opponent’s goal. The 23-year-old featured in 41 matches for the Mancunian club in the previous campaign, netting seven goals and earning three assists across all competitions.
The English talent proved his worth at times in the final third by averaging 0.8 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He was even excellent when interchanging possession with his teammates in the opposition half based on his pass success rate of 85% in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Old Trafford will expire in the summer of 2026. However, he had recently fallen out with ten Hag and could now be on his way out of Man United.
Should Manchester United Cut Sancho Loose This January?
Sancho has got the pace to cause a few headaches for his marker out on the flanks. He can create some decent openings for others around him on the attacking end of the pitch and is a good dribbler with the ball as well.
The London-born talent is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-winger or play as an attacking midfielder if told to do so. At 23, he has his best years ahead of him.
Sancho is currently out of favour at Old Trafford after falling out with his manager Erik ten Hag recently. Thus, it is only logical for Man United to cut him loose when the transfer window reopens this January.
The Red Devils would be wise to cash in on Sancho and use the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement during the winter transfer period. Unless the English talent can make amends with ten Hag before January, it seems like the player is living on borrowed time at the Mancunian club.
