Real Madrid Are Hoping To Land This Bundesliga Defender Next Year: Good Choice For Carlo?

In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Real Madrid are hoping to land Red Bull Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan next year. It is understood that Los Blancos are eyeing a move for the French centre-back in 2024.

Simakan’s Impressive Run Of Form In German Football

The 23-year-old had an impressive campaign at the German club as he produced a run of solid displays for them in the Bundesliga. Simakan registered three goals and eight assists in 37 matches for Leipzig last season on all fronts.

The Marseille-born talent caught the eye in both halves by averaging 0.9 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 2.1 clearances, 0.5 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga football. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 81% in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Leipzig will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, Real Madrid would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Simakan next year.

Is Simakan A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?

Simakan can get stuck in with a few crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition attackers. He can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required.

The French sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and did well to score and create his fair share of goals for Leipzig last season. He is primarily a central defender but can also function as a right-back or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so.

We can expect Simakan to add more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. He is good enough to become a future starter at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium if Ancelotti can devise a way to bring him on board in 2024.

At 23, Simakan has got a bright future ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Madrid outfit to consider when the transfer window reopens in January.
