Barcelona clashed heads with Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica earlier this evening as they hoped to earn a win on the road. The Catalan club made a quick start to the contest and scored the opening goal in the 12th minute when Gavi got his name on the scoresheet. Frenkie de Jong doubled Barca’s advantage just three minutes later. However, the home team responded positively and managed to equalise thanks to a goal each from Juan Foyth and Alexander Sorloth respectively. Both teams went into the half-time break with a 2-2 scoreline.
Alex Baena completed the turnaround for the Yellow Submarine in the 50th minute. However, Barca came roaring back and equalised in the 68th minute via Ferran Torres’ effort before Robert Lewandowski scored the winning goal in the 71st minute
