In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Paul Brown revealed that Everton have got genuine interest in Troyes forward Mama Balde this summer. Brown said,
“It looks like there’s genuine interest there. It feels a little bit like he’s a backup option in case something goes wrong with a move for someone else. For instance, if Che Adams doesn’t come off, it feels like he might be on the list. Also, there are other clubs looking at this guy too, though. So, it may be that Everton are not really in the lead for him. We will see.”
Balde’s Impressive Form At Troyes Last Season
Balde enjoyed a decent campaign at the French club recently as he managed to put in a run of fruitful displays for them in front of the opposition goal.
The 27-year-old banged in 12 goals and earned four assists in 35 matches for Troyes last season in all competitions.
His current contract at the Ligue 2 club will expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Toffees to land him on the cheap this month.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Snap Balde Up This Summer?
Balde can engineer a yard of space for himself and can test the opposition keeper with his shot attempts. He can be a decent finisher in the final third when he is playing his best football on the pitch. Balde mainly functions as a centre-forward but can also operate as a winger on either flank if told to do so.
However, the Guinea-Bissau international is still unproven at the highest level. Hence, the Toffees will have to be patient with his progress if they want to get the best out of the player.
Balde will add some firepower to Everton boss Sean Dyche‘s frontline. However, he is far from a consistent goal-scorer and would need time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
Still, the Merseyside club would be wise to snap Balde up this month as they are in dire need of strengthening their attacking department if they want to retain their top-flight lives for another season.
