West Ham United Are In Talks To Land This Ajax Playmaker: Good Choice For Moyes?

In a recent report, The Guardian claimed that West Ham United are in talks to land Ajax playmaker Mohammed Kudus this month. It has been stated that the Hammers have looking to bring the Ghana international to the London Stadium during this summer transfer period.

Kudus’ Impressive Run Of Form In Dutch Football Last Season

Kudus enjoyed a productive season at the Amsterdam club recently as he put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Accra-born talent made 42 appearances for the Dutch outfit in the previous campaign, scoring 18 goals and earning seven assists across all competitions.

The 23-year-old was a reliable performer for Ajax in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.3 shots, 1.0 key passes and 3.0 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even been accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 87.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Dutch club will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for West Ham to land him on the cheap this month.

Is Kudus A Good Choice For West Ham United?

Kudus can create a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances in the final third and is an excellent dribbler with the ball as well. The Ghana sensation can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range and is a tidy passer of the ball as well. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a centre-forward or as a right-winger if required.

Kudus will no doubt enhance the quality of West Ham boss David Moyes’ frontline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium this season.

At 23, Kudus will only get better with each year which makes him a great choice for the Hammers to consider before the end of this summer transfer window. He might even help the East London club push for European football in the Premier League over the next few years.
