Finally, the January transfer window has opened and there are very few clubs other than West Ham who wanted it so badly. Their poor shopping in the summer has cost them badly as West Ham United had a terrible first half fo the season. Quite expectedly, the Hammers are the favourites of the rumour mill in January. So, how likely are West Ham to land their targets? Let T4O break it down for you.
Patrice Evra- 3/10
The former Manchester United defender has been linked with a January move to West Ham of late. Well, this is not at all a hard one to call. Considering the experience Evra possesses and the leadership he is born with, he is still capable of playing at the top level but if Aaron Cresswell is fit will Evra get first-team football at the Olympic Stadium?
Highly unlikely if we are to be honest. At the age of 35, why would Evra join West Ham from a club like Juventus! West Ham should forget about this deal. It ain’t happening.
Robert Snodgrass- 4/10
Ok, this makes a bit more sense than the Evra speculation but we literally mean the phrase ‘a bit more’. Hull have already rejected a £3m bid from West Ham for their stellar performer as per Sky Sports and even an improved offer is unlikely to make the tigers have a second thought.
Hull City’s season seems to be in a deep deep trouble and Snodgrass has been their only ray of hope. He is like what Batman means to Gotham for the Tigers. An indispensable member of the squad, there is no way the Scot is going anywhere in January. On top of that, it amazes me to see West Ham still looking for wide players after having so many wingers at their disposal.
Moussa Dembele: 5/10
Celtic starlet Moussa Dembele is right now one of the hottest prospects in Europea football and West Ham have already tried their luck once to lure the 20-year-old to the Olympic Stadium. Celtic have demanded a fee of £30m for the French young hotshot as per the same report and if West Ham splash that kind of money for a player like Dembele who is only proven in a league like the Scottish Premiership which is nowhere close to Premier League in quality, it would be too big a gamble.
Dembele, anyway, is unlikely to move out of Celtic right now as he is making a name for himself at Celtic and there is a long way to go before he moves to a bigger league.
