Arsene Wenger is confident that he will be able to keep Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal. The Chilean has been declining a contract extension as the Gunners have refused to meet his demands.
Sanchez’s current contract has 18 months left. He is currently on a £130,000-a-week contract and negotiations have been going on for the past couple of months. His current form has forced the North Londoners to try and secure his stay with a lucrative contract.
Sanchez has emerged as a key figure for the Gunners. The 28-year old has already netted 13 goals in the Premier League this season and will surely go past his previous season’s tally.
Wenger said, “It always starts with money, it finishes with money and in between the players want to stay or want to go.
“When the players want to stay it’s easier to find an agreement. We can certainly find an agreement. You cannot put the club in jeopardy as well for the players.
“I think no matter what happens we’ll try to keep them and we’ll go as high as we can and if we cannot go further, we cannot go further. That’s basically it. That’s the way you have to manage a football club.
“Alexis Sanchez is a committed player who wants to stay. I’m convinced we’ll find an agreement. It has to be in our potential.”
