In a recent report, Arena Napoli revealed that West Ham United could face competition for OGC Nice midfielder Jean-Clair Todibo. It has been claimed that the Hammers will have to rival Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa in pursuit of the French talent.
Todibo’s Impressive Form For Nice Last Season
Todibo enjoyed a solid campaign in Ligue 1 after he put in a string of impressive displays at the centre of Nice’s defence. The French centre-back featured in 46 matches for the French outfit last season but failed to score or assist a goal across multiple competitions.
The Cayenne-born talent has been a solid presence at the back based on his average of 2.2 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per game in Ligue 1. He was even careful when distributing the ball from inside his half as he completed 88.9% of his attempted passes in the French first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the French club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for West Ham to win the race for his services.
Is Todibo A Good Option For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?
Todibo is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He can sense the danger quickly and doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the offensive.
The French defensive ace is a tidy passer of the ball as well and can use his towering 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition in the air. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to adapt to life in English football.
We can expect Todibo to enhance the quality of West Ham boss David Moyes’ frontline. He might even help the Hammers challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons.
Therefore, Todibo could prove to be a decent option for the East London club to consider during this summer transfer window. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.
