In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that West Ham United are eyeing a move for PSV Eindhoven full-back Quilindschy Hartman this summer. It has been revealed that the Hammers are showing interest in recruiting the Dutch defender in this off-season.
Hartman’s Solid Season In Dutch Football
Hartman enjoyed a solid campaign at the Dutch club as he put in a run of impressive displays for them on the left flank. The 21-year-old registered two goals and five assists in 35 matches for Feyenoord last season in all competitions.
The Dutch sensation was a solid presence on the defensive third of the pitch based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.4 clearances per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the left wing, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 79.7% in the top tier of Dutch football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Feyenoord will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, the Hammers would have to make a convincing offer if they want to bring him to the London Stadium ahead of the new campaign.
Is Hartman A Good Signing For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?
Hartman usually works hard for his team on the defensive end of the pitch. He is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half.
The Dutch talent doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and can make a few decent plays for his teammates in the opponent’s half. At 21, he has the potential to become a future star at the highest level, so West Ham boss David Moyes should focus on moving in for him this summer.
Hartman will add more quality to the East London club‘s defence. He might even help the Hammers challenge across all fronts over the next decade.
All in all, Hartman would be an excellent, long-term signing for West Ham to pull off before the start of the new campaign. However, there are some question marks over whether he would be able to handle the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Moyes manages to snap him up this summer.
