In a recent report, El Nacional stated that Real Madrid defender David Alaba could seal a move to Manchester United this summer. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are showing serious interest in recruiting the Austrian centre-back from Los Blancos in this ongoing transfer window.
Alaba’s Good Run Of Form In Spanish Football
Alaba enjoyed a decent campaign at the Madrid club recently as he put in several solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 31-year-old found the back of the net twice and picked up three assists in 39 matches for Los Blancos last season in various competitions.
The Wien-born talent was a solid presence inside his half based on his average of 0.7 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 1.6 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was even excellent when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 89.3% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Real Madrid will expire in the summer of 2026. Hence, there is no immediate need for Los Blancos to cash in on him in this off-season.

Alaba can read the danger well and doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive. He is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some crucial interceptions for his team when he is playing well inside his half.
The Austria international is primarily a central defender but can also function as a left-back if asked to do so. However, father time is slowly catching up with his game.
Still, there is no denying that Alaba remains one of the most important members of Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s match-day squad. Hence, Los Blancos simply cannot afford to lose him during this summer transfer window.
At 31, Alaba has still got a few years left in his locker to play at his best and could be a real asset for the Madrid giants next season. Thus, it makes sense for Real Madrid to retain his services beyond this summer as he could help them challenge for a few more trophies in the coming years.
