In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Rudy Galetti stated that Aston Villa are showing interest in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. Galetti said,
“After Tielemans and Pau Torres, the midfield and the defence are okay.
“Aston Villa are now working to strengthen the wing (left and right).
“They have many names on their list that have already been explored, like Moussa Diaby of Bayern Leverkusen.
“In the past weeks, the Villans asked for information about Sancho, but the price tag set by Manchester United is considered too high.”
Sancho’s Recent Campaign At Old Trafford
Sancho had an underwhelming season at the Theatre of Dreams as he struggled to find consistency with his performances on the left side of Man United’s attack. The 23-year-old found the back of the net on seven occasions and secured three assists in 41 matches for the Red Devils in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The London-born wide player proved his worth at times by averaging 0.8 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opposition half after completing 85% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
Is Sancho A Good Choice For Aston Villa Head Coach Unai Emery?
Sancho is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs out in the wide areas. He can orchestrate a few meaningful chances for his teammates in the final third.
The English talent can shoot the ball purely and with venom from long range but needs to work on being more decisive in front of the opponent’s goal. He mainly operates as a left-winger but can also play as a right-sided wide player or function in the number ten position if told to do so.
Sancho will add more firepower to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attack and would no doubt enhance the quality of his first XI. He is good enough to help the Villans push for European football in the upcoming Premier League campaign.
At 23, the best is yet to come from Sancho, so he would be a decent choice for the West Midlands club to consider this summer.
