In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that West Ham United are preparing to move in for Leeds United ace Tyler Adams this summer. It has been claimed that the Hammers are hoping to land the United States midfielder during this summer transfer window.
Adams’ Difficult Season In Premier League Football
Adams had to endure a tough campaign at Elland Road as he failed to save Leeds from being relegated from the Premier League. The United States international made 26 appearances for the Whites last season, picking up four yellow cards in multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old deserves a ton of credit for averaging 3.7 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.0 clearances and 1.0 key passes per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass success rate of 82.4% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the West Yorkshire club will run out in the summer of 2027. However, Leeds’ relegation could open the door for the Hammers to sign him on the cheap in this off-season.
Is Adams The Right Fit For West Ham United?
Adams is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team in the middle of the park. He usually clears the danger when needed and can even set up a few decent plays for others around him in the opponent’s half when he is playing well on the pitch.
The American talent is primarily a holding midfielder but can also function as a right-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.
We can expect Adams to bring more bite and steel to West Ham head coach David Moyes’ midfield. He might even help the Hammers challenge across all competitions over the next few years.
At 24, Adams has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for the East London club this summer. He would even serve as a decent replacement for Declan Rice who is expected to leave West Ham before the start of the new season.
