Zambrano’s Decent Rise In South American Football
Zambrano made his way up the youth ranks of Quito before breaking out as a first-team starter for them recently. The 19-year-old has already made 29 senior appearances for the Ecuadorian outfit thus far, finding the back of the net on one occasion in the process across all competitions.
The Santo Domingo-born talent has caught the eye with his performances at the heart of Quito’s midfield over the past 10 months and is currently amongst the best young talents in Ecuadorian football. However, it’s unclear when his current contract expires at the Ecuadorian club.
Zambrano primarily functions as a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so by his manager.
Zambrano Is On The Radar Of Barcelona: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Zambrano is a solid tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the foot and can shoot the ball with power from long range. Zambrano is full of energy and running but there is still a lot of room for improvement in his game.
The Ecuadorian whizkid is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to settle into life at the Nou Camp if Barcelona decide to move in for him before the end of this transfer window.
Still, there is no doubt that Zambrano is a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Barcelona boss Xavi will do well to lure him to Spain in this off-season.
At 19, Zambrano has the potential to become a generational talent which makes him a decent option for Barca in the long run. Furthermore, he would also serve as an ideal replacement for Sergio Busquets at the Catalan club next season.
