In a recent edition of the Here We Go podcast, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Real Madrid have agreed on a deal to land Fenerbahce whizkid Arda Guler. Romano said,
“Arda Guler to Real Madrid, here we go. The agreement is in place. Real Madrid are signing one of the best talents in the world. They have an agreement with the player and an agreement with Fenerbahce for this Turkish super talent born in 2005, shining for Fenerbahce and he was on the list of 10 to 15 top clubs in Europe. But Real Madrid made it. The deal is done. They will pay more than €20million plus taxes, add-ons and sell-on clause in the agreement.”
Guler’s Decent Numbers In Turkish Football Last Season
Guler had an impressive season at the Turkish club recently after putting in a string of eye-catching performances for them on the attacking end of the pitch. The talented teenager made 35 appearances for Fenerbahce in the previous campaign, netting six goals and picking up seven assists in the process across all fronts.
The 18-year-old was a decent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.7 shots, 2.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He was even tidy when distributing possession in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 85% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Real Madrid Agree On A Deal To Land Guler: Is He A Star In The Making?
Guler excels at finding some space for himself and usually keeps his strikes on target. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well and has got the vision to orchestrate a few inviting chances for his teammates in and around the opponent’s penalty box. Guler is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-sided winger if told to do so.
The Turkish talent is already good enough to compete for a regular spot in Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti‘s match-day squad. At 18, the future looks quite bright for Guler as long as he continues to improve his game each year.
Guler is definitely a star in the making, so Los Blancos will do well to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium during this summer transfer window.
