In a recent report, Tutto Juve revealed that West Ham United have offered €15m for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, who played on loan at Chelsea last season. It has been claimed that the Hammers are eager to bring the Swiss talent to the London Stadium this summer.
Zakaria’s Unimpressive Loan Spell At Stamford Bridge Last Season
Zakaria had an underwhelming loan spell with the Blues in the previous campaign as he struggled to catch the eye for them in the Premier League. The 26-year-old found the back of the net on one occasion in 11 matches for the West London club last season across multiple competitions.
Still, the Swiss sensation deserves some praise for averaging 1.3 tackles and 1.1 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 88.8% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club, Juventus will expire in 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for West Ham to get him on board for a reduced fee this summer.
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Snap Zakaria Up?
Zakaria is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger well inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball. However, the Swiss midfield ace is yet to prove his worth in the Premier League. Still, there is no denying that he has his best years ahead of him.
At 26, Zakaria has still got plenty of time to prove his worth at the highest level. A move to West Ham could be another chance for him to showcase what he is capable of in English football. He will improve the overall depth of the London club’s squad.
We can expect Zakaria to bring more bite and steel to David Moyes’ midfield department at the London Stadium. He might even help the Hammers compete for European football in the coming years. Thus, the East London giants should focus on snapping Zakaria up during this ongoing transfer window as he could serve as an important member of Moyes’ squad next season.
