Gvardiol’s Solid Campaign In The Bundesliga
Gvardiol had another solid season at the Red Bull Arena as he continued to give a good account of himself at the centre of Leipzig’s backline. The Croat talent scored three times in 41 matches for the German club in the previous campaign in multiple competitions.
The 21-year-old was a consistent performer when defending inside his half based on his average of 0.8 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 2.3 clearances per game in Bundesliga. He was even excellent when distributing the ball from the back as evidenced by his pass success rate of 89.3% in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Leipzig will run out in the summer of 2027. Therefore, Man City will have to launch a convincing offer if they want to lure Gvardiol to the Etihad Stadium later this year.
Is Gvardiol A Good Signing For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?
Gvardiol is a decent tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to earn possession back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when required and also excels at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.85m, the Croatia sensation can be a strong presence in the air as well. He has the skill set to be a success story under the expert stewardship of Pep Guardiola at Man City.
We can expect Gvardiol to bring more bite and steel to the Mancunian club‘s defence and help them challenge for some major silverware in the not-too-distant future.
At 21, Gvardiol is only going to get better with each season. Thus, he will be a great signing for Man City to pull off during this summer transfer window. However, only time will tell whether Gvardiol can make a smooth transition to life at the Etihad Stadium.
