In a recent print edition, Nice-Matin mentioned that Liverpool are set to step up their pursuit of OGC Nice ace Khephren Thuram next month. It has been claimed that the Reds are planning to move in for the French midfielder soon.
Thuram’s Decent Run Of Form In French Football Last Season
Thuram enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Ligue 1 recently and deserves a ton of credit for putting in a run of influential displays at the heart of Nice’s midfield. The 22-year-old banged in a couple of goals and earned eight assists in 48 matches for the French club last season across all fronts.
The French sensation was a positive influence at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from midfield after making 86.9% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Thuram is under contract at the French club until the summer of 2025. Therefore, the Reds will have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit the French sensation in this off-season.
Is Thuram A Good Fit For Liverpool?
Thuram can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a good tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his team in midfield. The French talent doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed. Furthermore, he can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals going forward.
Hence, Thuram will undoubtedly enhance the quality of Liverpool‘s midfield. He has the skill set to succeed under the expert stewardship of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
All in all, Thuram would be a good fit for the Merseyside club as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.
