In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Newcastle United are keeping a keen eye on Real Madrid talent Aurelien Tchouameni. It has been stated that the Magpies are eyeing a move to bring the French midfielder on board during this summer transfer window.
Tchouameni’s Solid Run Of Form At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Tchouameni enjoyed a solid campaign at the Spanish club as he managed to catch the eye at times with his performances at the heart of Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield. The 23-year-old participated in 50 matches for the Madrid outfit last season, picking up four assists in the process across various competitions.
The 22-time France international has anchored the midfield with conviction by averaging 1.9 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 1.2 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 93.5% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Madrid club will expire in the summer of 2028. Therefore, it would take a mammoth offer for Newcastle to snap him up in this off-season.
Is Tchouameni A Dream Signing For Newcastle United?
Tchouameni is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are looking to threaten his teammates at the back and is a good passer of the ball as well. However, the French talent needs to find a way to add more goals to his game if he wants to taste more success at the highest level.
Still, there is no doubt someone with Tchouameni’s skillset and winning track record would be a dream signing for the Magpies to pull off during this summer transfer window.
Tchouameni will add plenty of bite and steel to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s midfield department and help the Tyneside club be competitive in the UEFA Champions League next season. Hence, Howe should consider trying everything in his power to bring the French midfield ace on board soon.
