Melo’s Poor Loan Spell At Anfield Last Season
Melo had a disappointing loan spell at Liverpool recently as he struggled to make an impact at the Merseyside club. He missed a lot of games due to injury and failed to earn enough game time at Anfield under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.
The Brazilian sensation made just one senior appearance for Liverpool last season across all fronts. Hence, it is difficult to understand why Newcastle want to bring him on board this summer.
Melo has struggled to prove his fitness in recent years and could struggle to adapt to life in English football once again next season. His current deal at his parent club Juventus will expire in 2025, so it won’t be easy for Newcastle to recruit him this summer.

He has failed to adapt to the physical nature and high intensity of regular Premier League football.
Despite his qualities, Melo would be a liability for the Magpies based on his poor injury record. Hence, Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe would be better off opting for someone else and not moving in for the Juventus outcast this summer.
The Tyneside club need more proven players if they want to challenge across all competitions in the coming seasons. Melo won’t be the answer to Howe’s midfield problems, so the Newcastle boss should focus on signing a better option in this off-season.
