In a recent report, Calciomercato revealed that Aston Villa could face tough competition for Villarreal ace Samuel Chukwueze. It has been claimed that the Villans will have to rival Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool and West Ham United in the race to recruit the Nigerian speedster this summer.
Chukwueze’s Impressive Numbers In Spanish Football
Chukwueze had a decent campaign at the Estadio de la Cerámica as he put in a series of impressive performances for the Yellow Submarine on the right flank. The 24-year-old proved his worth in the final third by scoring 13 goals and picking up 11 assists in 50 matches for Villarreal last season across all fronts.
The Nigerian sensation gave a good account of himself in the opposition half based on his average of 1.6 shots, 1.2 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in La Liga. He was also excellent when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 78.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Chukwueze is under contract at Villarreal until the summer of 2024 which could open the door for Aston Villa to land him this summer.
Is Chukwueze A Decent Choice For Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery?
Chukwueze is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the final third. The gifted winger has got the vision to create a few decent chances in the opponent’s half and can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range.
The Nigerian talent is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if told to do so.
Chukwueze will enhance the quality of Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s first team. He has what it takes to help the Villans push for a European spot in the Premier League next season.
At 24, Chukwueze will only get better in the coming years which makes him an excellent choice for the West Midlands club to consider in this off-season. However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football if Emery can find a way to get him on board soon.
