In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are prepared to move in for Athletico Paranense starlet Vitor Roque. It is believed that the Catalan club are open to making a move for the Brazilian youngster during the summer transfer window.
Roque’s Rapid Rise In Brazilian Football
Roque has done remarkably well to establish himself as a member of Athletico Paranense’s senior team over the past 12 months. The Brazilian prospect has already made 61 senior appearances for his current employers so far, scoring 17 goals and picking up eight assists on all fronts.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a fine run of form this season based on his average of 1.8 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Brasileirao. However, he needs to take care of the ball a bit better in the final third, based on his pass success rate of 73% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Brazilian club is set to expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Barca to lure him to the Nou Camp on the cheap in this off-season.
Barcelona Are Open To Moving In For Roque: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Roque is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some inviting chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch. He is proficient at generating space for himself to get a few strikes on target but needs to find a way to be more decisive in the opponent’s half. The Brazilian whizkid is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player.
At 18, Roque has still got a lot of room to grow as a footballer and has the potential to become a future star at the highest level.
Roque has already good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at a top club like Barcelona. We can expect him to add more firepower to Xavi‘s attack.
There is no denying that Roque is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, it makes sense for the Catalan club to engineer a move to get him on board in the upcoming transfer window.
