In a recent report, iNews claimed that Everton are among the clubs hoping to sign Sunderland winger Jack Clarke. It has been mentioned that the Toffes will have to rival Brentford, Burnley and Crystal Palace in the race to recruit the English wide player.
Clarke’s Impressive Record At The Stadium Of Light This Season
Clarke deserves a lot of credit for putting in a series of impressive performances on the left side of Sunderland’s attack. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net 11 times and earned 13 assists in 50 matches for the Black Cats this season in all competitions.
The 22-year-old has given a good account of himself on the left flank as he has averaged 1.4 shots, 1.7 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He has even distributed the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half after completing 75.1% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Clarke is under contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for Everton to win the race to acquire the services of the English talent ahead of the new campaign.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Move In For Clarke?
Clarke can engineer space for himself to get a few shots in at goal and can shoot the ball with venom and precision from long range. He can also create some promising plays for his teammates on the attacking end of the field.
Furthermore, the English sensation can also make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He mainly operates as a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player if told to do so.
We can expect Clarke to add more firepower to Sean Dyche’s frontline at Goodison Park if the Toffees can devise a way to bring him on board this summer.
At 22, Clarke has got a bright future ahead of him but could struggle to keep his good form going if he decides to play in the Premier League for Everton next season. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting him, so Dyche should think about moving in for the player soon.
