Celtic are loving life under Brendan Rodgers as they are in the driver’s seat for the Premiership title for the sixth season in a row. Well, ‘they are in the driver’s seat’ would be an understatement to be fair. The Hoops have taken their dominance in Scottish football to a whole another level under the stewardship of the former Liverpool boss. They are yet to face a defeat in a single domestic game this whole season and now are contending for an invincible domestic treble.
What Rodgers will target now will be to hit the next level and leave their domestic rivals well well behind and a deal for Ivorian wonderkid Kouassi Eboue certainly suggests so. As per BBC, Celtic have agreed a fee of around £3m with Krasnodar for the 19-year-old. Only a work permit stands in Celtic’s way now for securing the signature of the young combative midfielder.
Eboue joined Russian Premier League club Krasnodar in 2014 from Armenian outfit Shirak. The Russian side are currently sitting fifth in the league and Eboue has done quite a decent job in the middle of the park. He has made 18 appearances this season for the Russian side, scoring once goal and setting up his teammates twice. Well, a defensive midfielder should not be judged by his tally of goals or assists but his stats are not that bad.
Krasnodar have reached the round of 32 in the Europa League this campaign but will have to lose their third player this window if Eboue leaves the club for Celtic. Already being called up for Ivory Coast once but yet to make his debut, the youngster’s potential is enormous and could be a huge success at Celtic in the long run. Having just turned 19, sky is the limit for him.
The youngster possesses an exceptional technique for a combative midfielder. He likes to dribble his way past defenders when he bursts forward. Rodgers clearly does not rate Nir Bitton much and Eboue could replace him in the long run.
Celtic have some excellent young talents at their disposal in the likes of Liam Henderson, Kristoffer Ajer, Kieran Tierney. Future seems very very bright for the Bhoys and Eboue could provide a lot to their success story. £3m transfer fee is nothing nowadays and a young player of Eboue’s quality will certainly do justice to his price tag.
