In a recent report, The Daily Mirror mentioned that Arsenal are confident about recruiting West Ham United ace Declan Rice. It is understood that the Gunners want to hold talks with the England international at the end of this campaign.
Rice’s Recent Form At West Ham
Rice is having a season of mixed emotions at the London Stadium as he has produced a series of impressive performances at the heart of West Ham’s midfield but has struggled to help his club be consistent in Premier League football. The London-born talent has found the back of the net on four occasions and secured four assists in 43 matches for the Hammers during this campaign on all fronts.
The 24-year-old has been a reliable performer at both ends of the pitch based on his average of 2.3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after making 87.7% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the East London club is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Hence, Arsenal have a good shot at recruiting him on the cheap later this year.
Is Rice A Good Option For Arsenal?
Rice is a tough-tackling central midfielder who can sense the danger quickly to make some timely interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He usually clears his lines when needed and can also pass the ball well going forward.
The English talent is a good striker of the ball from long range and can make a handful of impressive runs with the ball from midfield.
We can expect Rice to bring more bite and steel to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He is good enough to rival Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka for a regular starting spot at the North London club next season. Thus, Rice will be an excellent option for the Gunners to consider during this summer transfer period.
