In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester City are hoping to sign Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson. It has been claimed that the Mancunian club are eager to bring the United States talent to the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season.
Robinson’s Solid Season At Fulham
Robinson is experiencing a fine campaign at Craven Cottage as he has produced a string of impressive performances on the left side of Fulham’s defence. The 25-year-old has featured in 33 matches for the Cottagers this season, picking up one assist in the process across all competitions.
The Milton Keynes-born sensation has been a consistent performer on the left flank based on his average of 1.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 2.1 clearances, 0.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball after making 76.4% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Craven Cottage is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Therefore, Man City could potentially land him on the cheap later this year.
Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Move In For Robinson?
Robinson loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when required and can engineer some decent chances for his teammates from the left flank. The 33-time United States international can make a few driving runs with the ball as well but needs to work on improving his shooting from long range.
Robinson is good enough to serve as a valuable member of Pep Guardiola‘s match-day squad if Man City manage to acquire his services during the summer transfer window.
At 25, Robinson’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Mancunian giants to pursue in this off-season.
However, Robinson is yet to taste success in the Premier League and would need time to settle into life at the Etihad Stadium. Still, there is no denying that Guardiola could unlock the best out of him at Man City in the coming seasons. Thus, the Mancunian outfit should focus on moving in for Robinson when the transfer window commences in a few weeks.
