Kaoru Mitoma “Completely Defeated” After Brighton’s Clash With Manchester United

After experiencing a “complete defeat” at the hands of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kaoru Mitoma has concurred with James Maddison’s appraisal of the Manchester United defender.

The two competed against one another on Sunday during the FA Cup semifinal, fighting for a spot to face Manchester City in the final in June. Due to Seagulls star Solly March’s missed a crucial penalty, the Red Devils prevailed in the capital.

Mitoma, a star player for Brighton this season, was anticipated to pose a significant threat to United throughout the day. He had 10 goals and seven assists for the Seagulls in all competitions going into the contest.

However, the 25-year-old found it difficult to make an impact after United defender Wan-Bissaka skillfully stopped him. After the penalty shootout loss, he acknowledged that playing against his opponent was difficult.

“I regret that I didn’t score a goal despite having a few opportunities to do so. Furthermore, scoring penalties is challenging, so I might have done more before that.”

“[Wan-Bissaka] is a strong opponent; that is what I thought while playing. But there were a lot of scenes where his legs stretched at the end, or he got the ball down at the back. I think it was a complete defeat.”

James Maddison On Wan-Bissaka’s Performance

Mitoma was not the only one to have hailed Wan-Bissaka for his performance at Wembley. Leicester star James Maddison also praised him on Social Media and made a bold call regarding his display against the Brighton winger.

The Foxes’ midfielder tweeted: “He is ridiculously good at one-v-one defending. Probably the best in the world, bar none. So many wingers run out of ideas when playing directly against him.”
