Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe have both established themselves as two of the most feared forwards in world football. They have both been remarkably consistent with their goal-scoring numbers in both club and international football over the past few years.
Before we find out which one is faster between the two strikers, let’s take a look at what they said about each other in media interviews (via UEFA.com).
Haaland in 2022: “I don’t like to compare myself with others. I think you need to be your own player. The media has been doing that [comparing top players] with Ronaldo and Messi for the last ten years and they’ve been pushing each other as well. I think it’s been a positive thing.”
Kylian Mbappe in 2022: “It’s the beginning for him. I’m happy for him, for what he’s doing. However, I didn’t just play up front; I played left and right. In all modesty, I don’t think anyone is capable of changing a position like that every year and maintaining a great performance at the highest level.”
Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe: Who Is Faster?
Mbappe recorded a top speed of 38km/h in a Ligue 1 game for Paris Saint-Germain versus his former club AS Monaco in 2019. In comparison, Erling Haaland has clocked a top speed of 36.3km/h during his time in the Bundesliga where he scored 62 goals and grabbed 19 assists in 67 matches for Borussia Dortmund.
In the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League campaign, Mbappe proved himself to be faster than Haaland as he recorded a top speed of 35.6km/h to Haaland’s 34.9km/h.
Based on the data above, it is clear that Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe is faster than Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland. However, there is no denying that both of them are two of the most prolific goal-getters in European football right now.
