Mamardashvili’s Impressive Form In La Liga This Season
Mamardashvili is experiencing a decent campaign at the Mestalla Stadium after putting in a string of decent displays in between the sticks for Valencia. The 22-year-old has conceded 40 goals and picked up seven assists in 33 matches for the Spanish outfit this season across various competitions.
The Tiflis-born talent has been a reliable performer for his current employers and has done well to average 0.6 clearances and 5.2 long balls per game in La Liga. However, he has been a bit sloppy with his ball distribution, based on his pass success rate of 65.1% in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
Mamardashvili is under contract at Valencia until the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Chelsea to snap him up at the end of this season.
Should Chelsea Bring Mamardashvili In This Summer?
Mamardashvili can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He can come out of his box to clear the danger and usually goes long with his passing.
The Georgian sensation has got quick reflexes that help him make some important saves at the back. However, he has to figure out a way to improve his passing accuracy if he wants to become a success story at a top club like Chelsea.
At 22, the future looks quite promising for Mamardashvili as long as he focused on improving himself with each season. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.
However, there are some concerns over whether Mamardashvili can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of regular Premier League football if the Blues manage to recruit him in the summer.
With all things considered, the West London outfit should consider orchestrating a move to bring Mamardashvili in during the upcoming transfer window as he could help them challenge for some top honours over the next decade.
