Manchester United will welcome Brentford at Old Trafford this Wednesday night as they try to collect maximum points at home in the Premier League. The Red Devils suffered a poor 2-0 loss away at Newcastle United last weekend. Hence, the Mancunian outfit would be desperate to get back to winning ways in midweek.
Erik ten Hag will once again set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Marcel Sabitzer and Jadon Sancho could get an opportunity to impress from the start of this clash at the Theatre of Dreams.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Brentford
Defence
David de Gea will function in goal for the Red Devils after shipping in a couple of goals versus Newcastle United in his last outing. Raphael Varane will resume his defensive partnership with Lisandro Martinez at the heart of Man United‘s backline as they try to stop Brentford from finding the back of the net in midweek.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will function as the right-back while Tyrell Malacia fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them need to keep things solid at the back and try to offer some decent support to the front players.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof will be named on the bench as they provide cover for the centre-half spots.
Midfield
Fred and Marcel Sabitzer will operate as the holding midfielders for Man United as they hope to dominate the game at the centre of the park.
The gifted trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho will function just ahead of them as part of ten Hag’s attack. Both Rashford and Sancho will be given the responsibility to stretch the pitch out on the flanks and engineer some decent chances in the final third.
Fernandes will carry most of the creative burden for the Red Devils in the opposition half. Antony and Scott McTominay will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Anthony Martial could get an opportunity to lead the charge for the Mancunian club on his own up top.
Wout Weghorst will drop to the bench but might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if Man United are in need of a goal by then.
