Everton are expected to be one of the busier Premier League sides during the winter transfer window this time out. Well, there are a number of reasons behind that. BillionaireĀ Farhad Moshiri took over the club and appointed Ronald Koeman as the manager in the summer after years of mediocrity under the likes of David Moyes and Roberto Martinez. Steve Walsh was appointed as the director of football but still, the summer transfer window left plenty to be desired and so did the first half of the season.
Consistency has been missing from the Toffees in the first half of the season. They are overly reliant on Romelu Lukaku for all the goals and whenever he fails to deliver, the Toffees fail to impress. Yannick Bolasie could be out for the rest of the season while the likes of Mirallas, Deulofeu, Barkley, Lennon and Valencia have all failed to impress.
Quite expectedly, we expect Koeman to look for attacking reinforcements in January andĀ according to Dutch source Voetbal Zone, EvertonĀ are among a host of European teams being linked with a move for Ludogorets forward Jonathan Cafu.
Voetbal ZoneĀ claims that Sunderland are also in the race for the 25-year-old Brazilian attacker but it should not be a problem for Everton to beat Sunderland as they clearly are a bigger team and have the monetary advantage too. Cafu will be pretty well known to Arsenal fans, as he scored against the Gunners and assisted the other in the 2-3 loss against Arsenal in the Champions League group stage this season.
Predominantly a right-winger, Cafu is capable of playing anywhere in the final third and has impressed both as a winger or a number nine this season. He has 11 goals and seven assists for the Bulgarian giants this season in all competitions from 28 games and was the stellar performer for them in the Champions League with 2 goals and 2 assists in six games.
Cafu is an old-school Brazilian attacker who is all about technique and skills. He is pretty fast and likes to take defenders on. The 25-year-old is not the biggest of players but uses his small stature to his advantage. In the Champions League this season, the Brazilian forward completed 2.2 dribbles every game and almost kept an 80% passing accuracy which is impressive for a forward.
Well, we all know how good a scout Steve Walsh is. He discovered the talent of Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante and signed them at Leicester City who were the key performers for the Foxes in their Premier League triumph last season.
If he considers Cafu as a special player, Everton certainly should go for him. His versatility will act as a huge bonus too. All things added up, this could be a brilliant deal for the Toffees.
