In a recent report, The Athletic stated that Newcastle United are big admirers of OGC Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram. It has been claimed that the Magpies’ head of recruitment Steve Nickson is a big fan of the French talent and describes him as an ‘intriguing midfield option’ ahead of the summer transfer period.
Thuram’s Rich Vein Of Form In French Football This Season
The 22-year-old is having an excellent season at Nice as he has been responsible for producing several impressive displays at the centre of their midfield. Thuram has found the back of the net twice and picked up eight assists in 39 matches for the French club during this campaign in various competitions.
The Italy-born talent has given a good account of himself at the centre of the park and has performed well to average 1.5 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in Ligue 1. He has even been brilliant when distributing the ball from midfield, based on his pass completion rate of 86.6% in the French top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Thuram’s current contract at Nice will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, the Magpies will have to make a good offer if they want to convince the French club to part ways with their prized asset in the off-season.

Thuram can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition in the middle of the park. He can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team and usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive.
The French sensation can also contribute by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team in the final third. Someone with his skillset will undoubtedly be a massive signing for Newcastle as they look to build a strong squad for the future.
