According to a report from Football.London, Arsenal are interested in acquiring the signature of Rasmus Hojlund of Atlanta. It is believed that the Gunners are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Denmark international, although they face competition from several clubs, including Manchester United.
Hojlund’s Impressive Numbers For Atlanta So Far This Season
The Danish youngster is having a remarkable season in Italy as he has managed to produce several productive displays being at the focal point of Atalanta’s attack. Hojlund has found the back of the net on 14 occasions and created five assists in 33 matches for the Italian club during this campaign on all fronts.
The 20-year-old has done well to lead the attack and deserves credit for averaging 1.5 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in Serie A football. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in the final third, based on his pass completion rate of 74.8% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Hojlund’s contract with the Italian outfit expires in the summer of 2027. Thus, the North London club will have to pay a massive fee if they want to recruit the Danish sensation at the end of this season.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Secure His Services?
One of the most attractive aspects of Højlund’s game is his technical ability inside the penalty box. He remains an attacking threat in front of the goal and has the ability to position himself in the right areas to convert the opportunities created by his teammates. His ability to read the game and make smart decisions under pressure has helped him find the back of the net on several occasions.
At just 20 years old, the Denmark striker boasts immense potential, with many years of development ahead of him. His youth presents an opportunity for clubs to invest in a player with a high ceiling, moulding him into a future star. By nurturing Højlund’s talent and integrating him into the first team, the Gunners can reap the rewards of his growth and potential resale value.
However, he could also prove to be a valuable asset to the attacking department as he is good enough to be an important member of the match-day squad. He would definitely add more firepower to Mikel Arteta‘s attack and bring more competition to the front line. Hence, Arteta should certainly make contact with the youngster and plan a move to bring him to the Emirates Stadium at the end of this season.
