In a recent report, Tutto Atalanta stated that Newcastle United are prepared to move in for Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund. It has been mentioned that the Magpies are hoping to acquire the services of the Danish striker in the summer as Eddie Howe hopes to strengthen his squad for the future.
Hojlund’s Good Run Of Form In Serie A This Season
Hojlund is having an impressive season at the Bergamo-based club as he has produced a run of impressive performances as the spearhead of their attack. The gifted centre-forward has found the back of the net on 14 occasions and grabbed five assists in 33 appearances for the Italian club during this campaign in multiple competitions.
The 20-year-old has proven himself to be a reliable performer in the final third by averaging 1.5 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 74.8% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Hojlund’s current contract at Atalanta is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Newcastle to land him on the cheap later this year.
Is Hojlund The Right Fit For Newcastle United?
Hojlund is proficient at generating space for himself to get a few shots in on-target. He can be a lethal finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field.
The talented striker can also set up some promising chances for his teammates and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to settle into life in Premier League football if Newcastle United manage to get him on board in the summer.
We can expect Hojlund to bring plenty of firepower to Eddie Howe’s attack at St. James’ Park. He could even help the Magpies challenge for some major honours over the next decade. Thus, it makes sense a lot of sense for the Tyneside club to launch a move to sign him during the summer transfer period.
At 20, Hojlund still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer and would be an excellent fit for Newcastle’s needs at the moment.
