In a recent report, Defensa Central mentioned that Real Madrid are showing interest in AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the German centre-back to the Spanish capital in the summer.
Thiaw’s Impressive Run Of Form At San Siro
The 21-year-old is experiencing a decent season in Italian football after putting in some impressive displays for the Milan giants on the defensive end of the pitch. Thiaw has made 14 appearances for the Italian outfit during this campaign, picking up six yellow cards in the process across various competitions.
The German defensive ace has caught the eye by averaging 1.7 tackles and 3.7 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass success rate of 79.5% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Italian club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Los Blancos will have to pay a big fee if they are serious about recruiting Thiaw in the summer.
Is Thiaw A Good Choice For Real Madrid Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti?
Thiaw can get stuck in with a few crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition attackers and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed on the defensive end of the field.
Thiaw is primarily a centre-half but can also fill in as a right-back if his manager tells him to do so. Standing at 1.94m, he can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels inside his half and is also proficient at playing his way out from the back.
At the moment, Thiaw is still improving as a footballer but is well-equipped to challenge for a regular starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. Thus, Real Madrid should focus on getting a deal done for him when the transfer window commences later this year.
At 21, Thiaw has the potential to become a real star at the Madrid club as long as Ancelotti is willing to be patient with his progress in the coming seasons. With all things considered, the AC Milan central defender would be an excellent choice for Los Blancos to consider in the long run. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Spanish capital.
